your first day of preschool

carter brian--my goose, my great musician and natalie's bubba,

time truly has flown.  i can't believe that starting tomorrow, on a daily basis, you won't be with me for four hours a day.  you've been my errand companion and car cart driver for a long time now.  i'm not sure what i'll do without our daily story snuggle time--the only way i'm able to get you to be still with me, but i know that preschool is the best thing for you at this point in time.  you are ready for more social interaction and to learn more.  sure, mommy could teach you the academic part, but then she wouldn't be as good of a mommy--she'd worry that she wasn't teaching you enough and stress herself out, and NO ONE likes a stressed out mommy!  ;)  good thing we have daddy to tell it like it is and spare us that unnecessary stress.

our original plan was for you to start preschool at four, but changed our minds when we noticed your uncertainty around peers around the time that natalie was born (although i'm sure the impending transition had a lot to do with your insecurities).  although the new plan is only a year earlier, that's a lot of days!  mommy finds herself wondering if she and daddy have made the right decision, mostly for selfish reasons, but after seeing your interest at Orientation last Friday, we know you will adjust well!

for the first few months, you will be at school every day, for half the day (8am-12pm).  depending on how you are doing and what you want to do, we might switch you to the full day program (8am-3pm) so you (AND mommy) can get used to being at school all day like you will be in junior kindergarten and so you can enjoy all the extracurriculars Brandon Academy has to offer.

mommy is also a little--okay, a LOT--nervous about your classroom not being peanut free.  mommy has a meeting with the principal tomorrow morning to discuss what decisions they've made upon the results of your recent blood work and she's really hoping that peanut products are banned, just so she can worry less.  we will find out soon enough, although i'm SURE there will be at least one peanut butter sandwich packed in your class of 13.  okay, i'm gonna stop there so i stop worrying!  you will be fine and safe and ms. miller knows how to use your epi pen, worst case scenario.

i hope you know how much we love you and how much i will miss those hours with you.  i'll wear my "c" necklace tomorrow, just to have you close to my heart.

i love you, sweet boy.

sorry i'm such a sap.

*muah*
