10 months

carter brian,

ten months have passed! wow! time is just flying and you are getting SO BIG--but not that big, considering you're only in the 5th percentile for height and weight. nonetheless, you're growing and changing and learning new things everyday!
this month you...

...waved "hi" and "bye" for the first time, though you don't do it consistently and your reaches for items are starting to look like waves, as are your "requests" for a high five.

...said "mama" and turned to me three nights in a row for a kiss at bedtime. talk about total heart melt moments!
{you clearly did not want a kiss at this moment!}

...were grinding your (6) teeth for a few weeks, but have since gotten over that. thank goodness!

...pull(/push) to stand! we thought you could do it for a while, but we don't have a lot of furniture the appropriate height for you to do this, so mommy got creative and tested it out. now, you pull(/push) to stand using the upside-down laundry basket, on the basket with the throw blankets, and even did it at great-grandma's using her couch and entertainment center!
...make more sounds all the time, but seem to get stuck on one and say that sound often. a few weeks ago it was "mama"--which was so sweet and special, but now you say "ba" a lot!

...are trying new foods all the time, especially since your 9month checkup. we give you just about anything, with the exception of honey, shellfish, peanut butter and egg whites, but you still primarily eat the foods i make for you (since mommy and daddy don't eat all organic produce) and stage 3 "pouch" food.

...have a favorite toy for certain--your bell!
...stood alone for a few seconds on a few different occasions, but it's definitely still an emerging skill!

...still army crawl, but have been up on your palms more often in recent days making mommy hopeful that you will soon crawl like a real boy! ;)

...go to playgroup every tuesday and do better and better each time we go. you do best with a smaller class size, but still participate even when there are more than 15 babies. your face lights up when you see the tunnel and really enjoy bubble time!

...are very much scared of the vacuum cleaner, the mini vac and the blender! mommy has to vacuum half the house while you're napping and then wait for daddy to take you outside once you're awake to finish the other half!
...go on a crawl pilgrimmage each night from the living room to the bathroom for bathtime! it's SO CUTE! :) you get so excited b/c you know what's coming and then fuss the whole time we strip you down!

...are working hard on self-feeding, but still seem to "need" mommy to touch the food. you WILL NOT pick up the food off the tray and eat it. but you've definitely made progress and we're hopeful you'll have self-feeding mastered soon enough! :)

...hang onto the bar of your stroller on walks. mommy and daddy aren't sure why you do this and find it rather quirky.
...require a size 4 diaper at night time, but mommy's using up the last of the size 3s during the daytime!

...wear some 6 month, but will soon require all 9 month clothing!

...have "mood" eyes which the pediatrician said will likely settle as hazel. mommy and daddy say that you got the best parts of each of them, except eye color--you got a mix! :)
...seem to get that the rooms in the house are connected and go on sprees of exploring the house. you most often go from the living room to the kitchen--stopping at dishwasher and then the stove to pull the dishtowel down. then you go by the pantry if it's open, otherwise you keep on crawling into the formal living and dining rooms. the office is still your favorite room, though, especially when daddy has all of the computers on!

...rarely let mommy sing you your lullabye at nap and bedtime without twisting and turning and reaching for the crib!
