carter brian,
you are getting SO BIG! you went to the pediatrician this week and you're 9lbs 4 ozs now! you're wearing size 1 diapers and 0-3 months clothes! the size one diapers are a little big, newborn diapers actually fit you better but you're peeing out of them so you're in the bigger size to keep mommy's life as simple as possible. as for the clothes, you're still in newborn size pants and shorts because you're so long and skinny, but you wear 0-3 months in everything else!
speaking of clothes, mommy's new favorite thing is to dress you in "outfits." you lived in onesies for the first month of your life, but now mommy makes you wear either shorts/pants with your onesie or a romper. you in an outfit sends your cuteness factor through the roof! unfortunately mommy doesn't have any pictures to prove it right now since her camera has been full for the last two weeks and she hasn't been able to free up enough space to take random pictures of you.
you've gotten so much better at holding your head up these days and moving your head from side to side! you climb all over our chests during chest naps now and you try to bury your head in our armpits with the help of you're developing neck muscles. you don't like it that we don't let you do this and can get REALLY mad sometimes. it's kinda cute.
you also like napping in "the big boy bed" which is what daddy calls our bed. we only let you do this if mommy and dadddy are watching tv in bed and it's not time for you to go in your bassinet yet. we don't want to start any bad habits--even though you're still probably too young to realize where you're sleeping.
you have had two feedings from the bottle and have done okay with it. mommy didn't have the heart to feed you the bottle the first time, so daddy had to do it. (it's kinda like me and trimming your fingernails.) but it's okay that daddy fed you because he's the one who's going to be feeding you this way anyway. it's kinda funny -- the second time daddy gave you the bottle, you drank 4.5 oz. (which sounds like a lot) and then, i came home an hour later and you had a full feeding from o'boobigans! it's like you think daddy forgot to tell mommy what happened when she was gone.
speaking of feedings, you're consistently waking one time during the night for a feeding, but you only eat for a few minutes. mommy and daddy are toying with the idea of somehow breaking this, but we're not quite sure how to do it. i guess for now, mommy will keep doing what she's been doing. mommy is SO HOPING that you will be sleeping through the night soon. the lack of REM sleep is really starting to catch up with her!
last weekend, in an effort to make mommy's life a little easier, mommy and daddy put you in mommy's sling. sadly, you FLIPPED OUT (as in, freaked out, not actually fell out)--all three times we put you in! mommy still dreams of what it would be like wearing you around the house and the grocery store and to the doctor and in walmart and at the beach...oh the possibilities are endless! hopefully you'll cooperate soon! :)
sometimes you fart so loud that it scares you and you cry. it's sad (when you cry) but funny at the same time.
you love watching the mirror/mobile on your swing and the bright lights in stores like old navy. you also really like to kick your legs--everybody comments on how strong your legs are--so daddy bought you a new toy called a kickin' coaster. you sit in it like a bouncer and kick to go up and it plays music and lights up. you like it now, but i'm sure you're LOVE it once you realize you're doing it. it's what you're sitting in in the picture up above.
we love you very much and are so lucky to have such a sweet baby!
