week one, down.

carter brian,

you (and mommy) survived your first week of preschool (barely ;) --i'll explain below).  your teachers at Corbett Prep are wonderful and we are so glad to have found this school for you!  mommy does still catch herself holding her breath/worrying if this school will fall through like Brandon Academy, but she tries to not dwell on such things.  perhaps after parent teacher conferences, mommy will feel confident enough to put the school magnet(s) on the acura.  

here's a recap of this week's events:

monday 9/23/13 - the whole family dropped you off on your (2nd) 1st day of school.  you kept commenting on how the sun wasn't up yet, (barely) ate your cinnamon sugar toast for breakfast in the car, asked if we were going to the "school with the three black fire hats" (which we weren't), wanted to hear "radioactive" by imagine dragons, and didn't shed a tear.  mommy teared up a few times that day, but she wore her "c" necklace to keep you close to her heart.  when mommy picked you up, you only answered "yes" to all of her questions. the only thing that mommy knew for sure was that you painted because you got some on your shorts.

tuesday 9/24/13 - mommy drove you to school and natalie stayed home with daddy to nap.  there was an overturned orange juice truck and basically a tropical depression outside.  we were 20 minutes late.  after 45 minutes in the car, you asked if we could just go home.  still no tears from you, but you ran to mommy when she picked you up in the afternoon.

wednesday 9/25/13 - we made it on time today!  yay!  no tears and you answered my questions with yes AND no!  ;)  we followed out the little girl (Zoey) who leaves mid day and she was giving her mom a play by play of the day.  mommy was a little jealous.  

thursday 9/26/13 - mommy got to stay with you in the morning for "muffins with mom".  

she made you banana chocolate chip muffins so we didn't have to worry about nuts.  mommy really enjoyed playing with you, meeting your classmates and their moms and your teachers a little better too, and the flower magnet you made for mommy.  the BEST part of the week: when mommy picked you up, you told her that you danced today.  and when we walked passed the creative movement room, you pointed it out and asked if we could go in there.  why was it the best moment?  because you shared something with mommy and it just so happened to be one of the reasons we enrolled you at Corbett.  oh, and you had an accident today.  :(

friday 9/27/13 - you were in our room by 6am this morning, announcing it was a school day and that you wanted me to go to school with you for muffins again.  mommy loves how happy you are when you see her at pick up time and the way you run to her.  :)  after you and i had "rest time" (we both actually napped today), you seemed hot.  we took your temperature and wound up rushing you to the doctor to be seen before the weekend.

you tested negative for the flu and for strep, so we just have to treat the fever.  we were really worried when you were crying and telling us you wanted to "take your body off".  we learned that you need to be fever free without meds for 24 hrs before going to school.  hopefully you'll be well for Monday, since it's a short week and mommy and daddy are excited to have a conference with your teachers on thursday.
