today you turned three. wow!
i love who you are right now, and love watching you change and develop into your own unique person with clear likes and dislikes. don't get me wrong, you give me headaches and i get frustrated with you at times, but there are so many good moments with you. SO MANY!
you will be starting preschool in just a few months and i can't imagine what it will be like without you with me at all times! i don't want to imagine it--it makes mommy tear up just thinking about it. i want to enjoy these next few months as much as possible and try to be a more fun and engaged mom and soak it all in. the start of (pre)school is the beginning of the end.
at three, you...
...are rarely without a guitar, or at the very least, without an instrument of some sort--whether it be real or imagined! mommy is already planning your big boy guitar room that will be unveiled when your big boy bed is ready (target start date: memorial day weekend, at the latest)
...get annoyed with natalie if she touches any of your instruments, but also laugh when she tries to grab your face. on a few occasions, you even initiate play with her--quacking her with the duck puppet and tickling her when the "gas on the bus goes glub glub glub"
...can say that you are allergic to peanuts, but still don't know what it means.
...have discovered the deliciousness that is "chocolate bar" (enjoylife chocolate bars. mommy and daddy wonder how long it will take you to realize that a "bar" consists of four squares instead of the one we give you) and icing! your love for icing is as of today, your third birthday! you LOVED it on both the (immaculate) cinnamon rolls and your birthday cake! based on this year, mommy should forgo the cake and just serve you your very own bowl of homemade chocolate buttercream icing next year!
...love the park, wagon rides, apple juice (diluted unbeknownst to you) and riding your "jeep" kyle and alex down the street handed down to you
...imitate Jon Bon Jovi's every movement when you "earn a music video" after mealtime. it is hysterical--he takes out/puts in his microphone, you take out/put in your microphone; he jumps, you jump; he picks up his guitar, you pick up yours.
...have turned into quite the snuggler when we play "night night game" while we read stories (basically, we each get a pillow and a blanket and you pick book after book to read while we are all tucked in on the couch)
...have nearly mastered undressing yourself and are beginning to learn to take your plate/bowl to the sink when you finish a meal
...any elevated surface is a "stage"
...break out into song at any moment. your favorite bands at the moment are bon jovi, foreigner and zztop; your most requested songs at the moment are "livin on a pear" (= living on a prayer), "bad name" (= you give love a bad name), "the W song" (= i'll be there for you, or as you sing it, "i'll be your duh-buh-you"), lay your hands on me and blaze of glory--ALL bon jovi!
...sleep with two stuffed animals and daddy's travel pillow you declared yours before he left for India each nap and each night. right now, "mommy bear" and "daddy bear" are your animal of choice; there's always two though--a mommy and a daddy (stuffed animal).
...have complete control over the "radio" (= whatever songs are on mommy's iphone) while in the car and are making your requests before mommy has the chance to fasten her seat belt.
...request "The Bourbon Street Band is Back" at least twice a day since we brought it back for you from mommy and daddy's anniversary trip to New Orleans. you are still into the curious george books too!
...watch Caillou while mommy nurses n and cooks dinner, although there was a short period of time where you requested Curious George Movie
...love spending time with your friend, Brady and his brother "baby Justin"
...hate having your picture taken, which really saddens mommy, since you are such a handsome little boy!
