carter brian,
i couldn't stay away! i thought about doing semi annual updates, but you continue to change SO MUCH each month, that i can't go that long between documenting what's new with you! it's been three months since your last update, so i'm sure this will be pretty lengthy!
at two and a quarter, you...
...are nearly potty trained! mommy still has you walk around in just big boy underwear and a tshirt, despite daddy's, "when's he gonna wear pants again?" comments. :) you still wear "sleep underwear" (= a pull up) during nap and during the night though. AND you require assistance pulling up and down your underwear and turning and sitting using the contraption we have in the bathroom so you can use the big potty.
...sing "our song" = jason mraz's "i won't give up" and light up whenever it comes on the radio! when it's almost over, you ask, "dancing song next?" because the song after "i won't give up" on the album is "5/6" and we dance to it around the house. mommy and daddy are super excited to see him in concert on Natalie's due date. mommy secretly wishes she could bring you, just to see if you would recognize "our song" when jason played it live.
...like to dress up in the random items we've bought and you've earned from the potty treasure box or things you find in mommy and daddy's closet
...LOVE your home depot toy blower and mower!
...still are a little difficult at mealtimes and aren't as independent as mommy would like you to be, although occasionally you surprise us (i.e. tonight, you ate a half of a sweet potato and a 2 oz homemade turkey burger in 20 minutes with only one or two verbal prompts!!)
...prefer your hulk or spiderman underwear. mommy doesn't know all the superheroes on your underwear, so she generically calls them "superhero underwear". you don't seem to mind.
...know the order of "the farmer and the dell", but skip a few words here and there. you also sing along with mommy before naptime and bedtime ("you are my sunshine" and "all the pretty horses" at nap, just the latter before bedtime).
...successfully blow bubbles about 20% of the time! but you will only get better! maybe you'll be able to blow out your candles on your third birthday if we continue to practice. daily. ;)
...can almost say your abc's!
...still love books and have cycled through a number of favorites over the last three months. some of your favorites...the series of Looney Tunes books Mimi got you, the letter books that mommy had when she was little (currently we have read through "my j book"), all your various elmo and sesame street books
...know "up high...down low...too slow!"
...ask almost daily to "water the plants"
...can tell a joke (knock knock...who's there...boo...boo who...don't cry) thanks to one of your elmo books!
...say "do it yourself" numerous times each day whenever you want to do something yourself.
...took survival swim refresher classes. typically they take 1-2 weeks. it took you 4. :)
...love Brady!
...play "bih-niss tip" (get in your big red car, drive around, open the door and say "home!" and run to me or daddy and give the biggest hug!)
...touch the center of your top lip with your right index finger, in addition to suck your (left) thumb.
...like to put your hands in your pockets (when you have pants on)
...play horsie ("yeehaw") in the most unconventional way
...are no longer scared of the vacuum
and
...ask for mommy to get the chair so you can wash dishes or bake muffins.
