you put daddy's finger in your mouth today and started gnawing away like normal...

...and daddy felt it...

your first tooth has broken through!

SOLIDS!!

you've reached another big boy milestone: you're eating "solids" now! in the last few days, you've been sitting up EVEN BETTER unassisted and for longer periods of time, so mommy thought it was time to start, even though you haven't doubled your birth weight quite yet.

mommy decided to make avocado your first food and you don't seem to mind it--like most things. you're such an easygoing baby...just like your daddy! :)

mommy's very excited about introducing you to bananas and sweet potatoes in the next few weeks...it stinks that we have to wait four days before introducing a new food, but i know there are rules for a reason. here are some more photos from your first feedings!

daddy promised that we can go to hunsader farms next year--when you're old enough to enjoy it! mommy wanted to go this year, but after seeing your reaction to the pumpkins at the local pumpkin patch, i'm glad we didn't make the 1.5 hour (one way) trip to hunsader farms! but we WILL next year! :)

daddy thought that it would be a great idea to celebrate your first half birthday by doing one of the things you weren't allowed to do until that day--wear sunscreen. daddy's full of great ideas, isn't he? remember that! ;)

wow! time has FLOWN! i know that people ALWAYS say that, but it really is true. we're going to be celebrating your first holidays before we know it, and then your first birthday not long after that!

sometimes i just sit and hold you because i know that very soon, you'll be crawling and NEVER WANT TO BE HELD! but there is one moment that i'm looking forward to...when you crawl to mommy because you want me to hold you!

okay...enough with the sappy stuff...on to the update.
you are...

...officially wearing six month clothes (you weighed 14lbs 4 oz on your 6 month bday!!)

...sitting UNASSISTED for about a minute before toppling over
...quite the inquisitive little guy

...using what mommy and daddy are calling "intentional rolling" as your means of locomotion

...occassionally pushing up into "crawl position"

...willing to practice walking with mommy

...eating 30-36 oz per day! we'll be starting solids VERY SOON!! :)

...sleeping (and napping) well, with only an occasional talk fest between 4 and 5 am
...babbling "mah mah" and "bah bah" but we're still working on "dah dah"

...and...

...L.O.V.I.N.G jumping in your jumperoo!!

there are (at least) three things currently that make you laugh/smile consistently:

(1) holding a wet washcloth over your belly during bath time and squeezing water on your belly.

(2) "upside down baby" - being picked up by your legs so your head dangles.

(3) playing with paper--especially the shiny paper that comes on junk mail day!

your first trip to the park

the weather was gorgeous this past sunday, so daddy suggested we go for a picnic. (boring ole' mommy thought of all the things that would NOT get done if we spent 2+ hours at the park, but decided to just let all of it go.)

mommy and daddy decided that lettuce lake park would be best, loaded up the car and headed to publix for some subs.

once we got to the park, we came across a covered area with three picnic tables that was right on the water. it was the perfect spot!
you let mommy and daddy enjoy lunch and after a quick diaper change, we walked the boardwalk and then headed over to the playground area.
you loved being outside--especially the breeze! there were some bucket swings in the playground area so you got to go on a swing for the first time! you reacted the way you react to most new things--no crying and no squeals of delight.

all in all it was a great day with just the three of us. :)
