thanksgiving 2013

what is mommy thankful for?  here's a hint:

when daddy asked you what you were thankful for, you replied "bob the builder".  so, there you go.  :)

we had thanksgiving at our house for the first time ever this year!  nana and papa were out west for their annual vacation, so they weren't able to come to grandparent's day at school or to our thanksgiving lunch, but uncle don represented mommy's side of the family thanksgiving day.

you made a votive for grandma and grandpa z at school, and that was our centerpiece for the holiday meal!

daddy made the turkey and mommy and grandma z made the sides.  you weren't very interested in the meal and spent some time in your room during lunch, making it a not-so-relaxing meal, but i've come to the conclusion that mealtime is NEVER relaxing with young kiddos!

a turtle passed through the back yard while daddy was finishing up the turkey.  you thought he was pretty neat.
it was a nice day.  we have a lot to be thankful for!

halloween 2013

your current obsession with being a firefighter (specifically Fireman Sam), made this year's family halloween costume easy to decide on, especially when mommy found the PERFECT costume for Natalie, your "fire dog".  daddy went as another fireman ("Elvis") and mommy was fire that you kept "pushing out".

we went to aunt nell and uncle karl's halloween party the saturday before halloween.  you had a LOT of fun throwing the bean bag through the hole and playing with the "fire hose".

on halloween, you dressed up at school and mommy went to the parade!

you and natalie dressed up for trick or treating on our walk.  you were SO EXCITED!  mommy had originally planned on decorating the wagon as a fire truck, but figured we'd take the double stroller, so she didn't bother.  lo and behold, you INSISTED on taking the wagon, so we did, non decorated.

we only went to the few houses we know in the neighborhood and daddy checked each piece of candy you picked from the baskets to make sure it was safe.  it was really sweet, kat (next door), made sure to get candy JUST for you that was peanut and tree nut free.

you didn't quite understand that you were supposed to stay outside to get the candy, but no one seemed to mind.  :)
