16 months on the 16th of august
one and a quarter. wow!
you are quite the delight, carter brian. we love you very much! so much so, that you make mommy want another "bay-bee"! what will we do when you aren't the "bay-bee" anymore? what will you call yourself? i guess we should start working on "big boy". who am i kidding? there won't be another "bay-bee" to speak of for quite some time! you'll be speaking in full sentences by then! ;)
...on with the update...
at 16 months you...
...no longer refer to us as "mama" and "dada". we are "mah-mee" and "dah-ee". i guess that shows how big you are.
...no longer drink apple juice daily, mostly because you seem to have regulated your bowels, but also because you...
...are taking survival swim classes and no apples of any kind are allowed within 24 hours of swim class. that means you can only have two varieties of your-oh-so-precious peter rabbits sunday thru friday and the other 5 varieties that contain apples are reserved for saturdays only!
...have quite the vocabulary! you have upwards of thirty words (yes, mommy has a list, but it's not up to date right this second, as you surprised mommy with at least 3 "new" words in the last day or so!); some new words this month: "bah-k" "bah-k" for chicken, "hor" for horse, "ish" for fish, "baa" for sheep, bowl, "gah" for cup, "gray" for grapes, "nigh nigh" you tell us every night before bed.
...have food offered to you every hour! any form of bread is your consistent favorite and meals are most often borderline bribery (according to daddy, mommy just shows you that the reinforcer is available)--"first _________, then bread/bagel/bialy/toast."
...are a "3" on the RAST test for peanuts and a "1" for almonds; which, based on my research, provides no indication of how severe your next reaction to peanuts (or almonds) will be, and thus is useless information.
...stand at the sliding glass door, banging and waving at daddy when he is grilling.
...smile the biggest smile and wave a fast, excited wave when daddy is outside mowing the grass.
...dropped a percentile in weight at your 15 month check up so we had to go in today for a weight check. you gained a pound in a month and are back on the 5th percentile track (20.8 lbs). is the 5th percentile something to be happy about?? i guess it's a victory for us! we have to go back in for another weight check in one month, right before mommy and daddy get to go away to the florida state/oklahoma football game! you will be staying with nana and papa; you won't miss us! ;)
...have taken to carrying a wooden pizza stone/remover around the house.
...no longer think the dishwasher is that cool, but the "tee-eee", now THAT'S a different story! we are making you branch out though, so you know that tvs play things other than baby einstein's "animals around me"!
...LOVE being in daddy's office. so much so, that mommy and daddy have considered purchasing a baby gate to keep you corralled in the one side of the house! until we buy one, mommy's tried using the playyard as a barricade.
...should also be known as the "grape grabber".
...look through the photo album in the formal living room and identify "mah-mee", "dah-dee", "er-ca", "nana" and "papa" over and over again! and you point to the photos aunt chenelle took in the family room and say "mah-mee", "dah-dee" and "bay-bee"! so stinkin' cute!
...AND...
...still love the three Bs: 1) books (especially the snappy pop-up books, "how do i love you?", "who loves carter" and "the foot book") 2) bathtime and 3) the beach! :) mommy can't wait till we go to daytona beach with nana and papa!
