carter brian,

{you require TWO forms of bribery for your month pictures! good thing this is the last one!}

you're ONE YEAR OLD! mommy cannot believe how fast you are growing up! it's sad and happy all at the same time. maybe i'm a little weird, but when mommy thinks about you, she imagines you right now--not tiny baby carter of the past (that's why mommy takes so many pictures, so she doesn't have to spend her time daydreaming and remembering BABY carter), nor do i imagine future carter all grown up. there's no time for all that anyway! mommy's busy trying to keep up with you (and the laundry, etc.) RIGHT NOW! :)

at 12 months you...

...pull yourself to standing using any object you can get your hands on, but won't stand on your own yet

...LOVE your ball toy--mommy can't tell if it's because of the music it plays or if it's because it's a good standing post. the bell has definitely taken a backseat!

...LOVE DOGS!

...LOVE books! :D you'll get quiet and mommy will find you thumbing through a book!

...drink whole cowsmilk from a sippy cup throughout the day and from a bottle before bedtime

...nap twice a day--down at 10am and 2:30pm

...respond to your name consistently (unless there's a camera involved!)

...*CAN* give kisses, high 5s, kick, wave and clap on demand, but don't always comply

{a kiss ON DEMAND WITH the camera out! the chances of this happening again are a bajillion to one! ;) }

...play in the drawers and cabinets in the kitchen...and china cabinet...and end tables

...steal mommy's pen if she's writing in her notebook or trying to cross items off the grocery list

...ate your first crayon

...will be getting your first haircut the day after your first birthday, since grandma h says it's bad luck to get a haircut before then

{you can see why we're getting your hair cut asap}

...still LOVE your baths but recently started crying any time daddy tries to wash your teeth with the washcloth

...have come a long way; you'll wear shoes without shedding a tear

...play in the dishwasher any chance you get

...close and open doors and play with the doorstoppers around the house

...bang on the washer and dryer while mommy changes the laundry

and...

...are still our "goose" and "sweet boy"! we love you, one year old, carter brian!
